Resolving family conflict one mediation at a time.

Hi, I’m Rachael. I keep Australian families out of court by helping you find practical solutions.

Separation and Divorce is one of life’s most difficult moments. When you layer conflict on top of that process, it can impact on your mental health and your ability to move on with your life.

My priority is simply allowing people to be heard without judgement through the process of mediation. With a Masters in Law (Dispute Resolution) and over 20 years of practice as a barrister, I help people listen and hear each other even when they feel like they are entrenched in unresolvable conflict.

Wherever you are in Australia, I can help you settle your family law dispute quickly and without having to go to court.

 Why Choose Me?

I offer a kind, non-judgemental approach to family dispute resolution. I help you make decisions so that everyone in your family can move on and be free of conflict after separation and divorce.

A little bit more about me….

I grew up in rural NSW and, like many country kids, was eager to move to Sydney after finishing school. I started my degree at Sydney University, later transferring to the University of New England for more flexibility to study remotely while backpacking and working around the world.

In 2001, I began my legal career as a clerk at the Queensland Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and was admitted as a barrister in 2003. I worked in various roles at the ODPP, including as a committals legal officer and sentencing prosecutor.

In 2004, I sat the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test in London and gained admission as a solicitor in England and Wales. From 2004 to 2008, I worked for a criminal defence firm in East Sussex, representing clients across London, Kent, and Sussex.

In 2008/2009, I spent nearly eight months in Africa volunteering with the charitable organisation RIPPLE Africa, where I worked closely with a small rural community on the shores of Lake Malawi. During this time, I co-founded the Women's Community English Class, which continues to run today, and focused on women's and children's projects.

Upon returning to Australia in 2009, I resumed my work with the Queensland Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), holding various roles in Brisbane, Beenleigh, and Southport, including as a Crown Prosecutor.

In 2013, I transitioned to family law and mediation at the private bar in Queensland, earning a Master of Laws (Dispute Resolution) from Bond University, and becoming a nationally accredited mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner, registered with the Department of Attorney-General.

In 2016, I co-founded and currently co-direct the French Quarter Chambers and Mediation Centre at Emerald Lakes on the Gold Coast, alongside my close friend and colleague, Simone Fraser. Today, my practice is dedicated solely to family mediation, offering both in-person services across South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, as well as online sessions throughout Australia—and occasionally internationally.

Previously, I had the privilege of lecturing in Negotiation at Bond University's Faculty of Law. I also served as a mediation coach and assessor at the Bond University Centre for Dispute Resolution, helping students achieve national accreditation and family dispute resolution registration.

In addition to my mediation work, I am an Equine-Assisted Learning Facilitator, leading leadership and development sessions with my horses, Chance and Bella.

As a mother of three, I understand the challenges of balancing family life with professional commitments, just like many parents do.
